† - Justice CD Review

8.4

†. Just †. Have any idea how to pronounce it? Never mind. While most people give it the name Cross, I'd prefer to have it at †. Lets call it that clicking tongue noise shall we.

Two French (why does all the good dance music come from France) DJs make an album and at first, they seem to be copies of Daft Punk, but they are nowhere near. D.A.N.C.E. is their first hit and everyone loves that song, but sadly, Waters of Nazareth, the better single, is shadowed out by that Michael Jackson tribute song.

The album kicks in with a fanfare of horns, then the synths kick in, and I'm talking about Genesis, the introductory song. Some knocking hi hat cymbals come in and boom, the song automatically transitions to Let There Be Light. Not one for the soothing music lovers. This is hard hitting and only when you're in the dancing mood you'll love this.

Here shifts in like a bad radio reception, D.A.N.C.E., the album's spectacular hit. Put your dancing shoes on, the new age funky deep bass disco starts. It doesn't stop there, as another bad radio drift knocks in, and its Newjack. Don't stop dancing, the music won't stop hitting you. Newjack is something that Daft Punk would never make, and I bet they're jealous.

Cut radio receptions, and the Phantom comes in. Consisting of two songs 7 minutes and 43 seconds in total, this heavy synthesizer buster is going to have you shaking at least your fingers, you can't listen to Phantom and Phantom Pt. 2 throughout while relaxing. Phantom Pt. 2 is more epic than Phantom, with its fat hammering of beats, while Phantom is more rhythmic and simple.

Aren't you tired now? That four song smasher has gotten the best of you? Okay, relax with the most melodic song in the album, Valentine. Though it should've stopped with just the organ flows. But the song is short and will seem to be slowly swallowed up by the song..

Pushing in like an unexpected guest in a limousine, TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY starts with Uffie's sorta naughty and drunkard vocals. And when DVNO shoots in in a similar way to TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY swallowing up Valentine, sounding like Justice mixed up vocals, when they actually didn't, and you can actually listen to the lyrics properly.

Just when you thought that Let There Be Light is beat heavy enough, Stress gives you the sense of having a heart attack while being chased by a shark, and the shore's no where near. Then, just as the shark catches you, you sink into some kind of vortex with mechanical synthesizer sounds. You sunk into what is known as Waters of Nazareth. And be prepared to wiggle your way out of this trap hole. You need to and you know you want to.

As you pop out of the lil' whirpool, you enter a small beach. Its quiet, other than distant sounds. You walk around and more sounds appear, getting louder as you make more distance from where you started. And cut, all the music stops. And your journey is over.
